At Kebab & Kurry, in Town Square Las Vegas, we cook from two menus: one Persian, one Indian. You can order from both at the same table. This is how the two sides differ, with the dishes and prices as they appear on our menu.

The Persian side: kebabs on saffron rice

Most of the Persian mains are kebabs, grilled on skewers. Every kebab plate comes with saffron rice and a grilled tomato, so one plate is a full meal.

  • Koobideh Kebab (Beef)$25

Grilled ground beef skewers served with saffron rice and grilled tomato.

  • Koobideh Kebab (Chicken)$24

  • Joojeh Kebab (Boneless Chicken)$25

Grilled marinated boneless chicken breast served with saffron rice and grilled tomato.

  • Barg Kebab$38

Grilled beef fillet marinated with saffron and spices, served with saffron rice and grilled tomato.

  • Soltani Kebab (Beef)$42

Combination of one Koobideh skewer and one Barg (beef fillet) skewer, served with saffron rice and grilled tomato.

  • Rack of Lamb$38

If you cannot choose, the Soltani puts two kebabs on one plate, and the Koobideh Combo ($25) pairs a beef and a chicken Koobideh skewer.

The Persian starters are made for the middle of the table: Mast-o-Khiar ($12), yogurt with cucumber, herbs, walnuts and raisins; Hummus ($12); Baba Ghanoush ($14), smoky roasted eggplant with tahini and garlic; Dolmeh ($13), grape leaves stuffed with rice and herbs; and Shirazi Salad ($12), diced cucumber, tomato and onion with lemon. Their drinks list includes Doogh, a yogurt drink, and Persian tea.

The Indian side: tandoor, curries and chaat

Our tandoors are fired with charcoal and our curries are slow simmered. The Indian menu runs from chaat to tandoor dishes, curries, biryani and breads from the clay oven.

From the tandoor

Chicken Tikka and Tandoori Chicken are marinated in yogurt and spices and roasted in the tandoor. Murg Malai Tikka uses cream, yogurt and cheese. Without meat, there is Malai Paneer Tikka and Paneer Tikka Achari; from the sea, Tandoori Jhinga (prawns) and Salmon Fish Tikka. Our naan comes from the same kind of oven, slapped onto its inner wall.

Curries

Murgh Butter / Makhmali is tandoor-roasted chicken in a creamy tomato sauce. Mutton Rogan Josh is lamb cooked Kashmiri style in a red gravy, and Mutton Vindaloo is lamb and potato in a tangy, spicy sauce. Malabar Fish Curry and Goan Shrimp Curry are coastal curries made with coconut. Paneer Makhani, Dal Makhani, Peshawari Chole and Aloo Gobi are on the menu without meat.

Chaat, biryani and bread

Chaat is the Indian street-food side of the menu: Pani Puri, Samosa Chaat, Aloo Tikki Chaat and Palak Chaat (crisp spinach fritters with sweet yogurt sauce and pomegranate seeds). Murgh Dum Biryani is cooked dum style, in a sealed pot. For bread there is Garlic Naan, Bullet Naan with green chili, Laccha Paratha and Kulcha. Prices for every Indian dish are on the Indian menu.

Kebab or curry: how they compare

How it is cooked
Persian: grilled on skewers. Indian: roasted in the tandoor, or simmered in a sauce.
What comes with it
Persian: saffron rice and a grilled tomato on every kebab plate. Indian: the menu lists rice, biryani and breads in their own sections.
Flavours the menu names
Persian: saffron, herbs, lemon, yogurt. Indian: spices, chili, tamarind, coconut, cream.

Ordering for a table that wants both

A simple way to try both sides: share one Persian starter and one chaat, then order a kebab plate and a curry, with Garlic Naan from the breads.

For a guest who does not eat meat, the Persian starters (the yogurt dips, Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Falafel and Dolmeh) and the Indian paneer, dal and vegetable curries are all described on the menu without meat.
